Pediatric Oncologists

Carl Lenarsky, MDCarl Lenarsky, MD

Carl Lenarsky, MD, Medical Director of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at Medical City Children Hospital

Dr. Lenarsky completed a Pediatric Hematology/Oncology fellowship at the UCLA Center for the Health Sciences, and is board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.

Prior to coming to Medical City Children’s Hospital, Dr. Lenarsky was the Clinical Director of Research Immunology and Bone Marrow Transplantation at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. He is currently the Medical Director of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at Medical City Children’s Hospital.

 

Joel Weinthal, MDJoel A. Weinthal, MD

Joel A. Weinthal, MD, Director of the Stem Cell Transplant/Apheresis Lab at Medical City Dallas

Dr. Weinthal completed his Pediatric Hematology/Oncology fellowship at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. He is board certified in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.

Dr. Weinthal has had a career-long dedication to research in childhood cancer and supportive care issues in pediatric oncology. He has developed and perfected innovative treatment techniques such as peripheral blood stem cells transplants and umbilical cord blood transplants.

 

Stanton Goldman, MDStanton C. Goldman, MD

Dr. Stanton Goldman completed his Pediatric Hematology/Oncology fellowship at John’s Hopkins University School of Medicine, and is board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.

Dr. Goldman is an internationally recognized leader in the treatment of children with lymphoma, and has been instrumental in developing new methods of preventing kidney problems in children with cancer. Dr. Goldman is a past president of the medical staff at Medical City Dallas.

 

Maurizio Ghisoli, MDMaurizio Ghisoli, MD

Dr. Maurizio Ghisoli completed his Pediatric Hematology/Oncology fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center, and is board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. He has a special interest in the development of innovative treatments for children and adolescents with solid tumors.

Currently, Dr. Ghisoli is the Principal Investigator for a clinical study of an experimental immunotherapy for pediatric patients with sarcoma. Dr. Ghisoli is also the Cancer Committee Chair at Medical City Dallas.

 

Erin Lampson, MDErin Lampson, MD

Dr. Erin Lampson completed her Pediatric Hematology/Oncology fellowship at Children’s Medical Center - UT Southwestern in Dallas. Dr. Lampson has a special interest in childhood cancer survivorship and the neurocognitive late effects of treatment. Her research focus is to better understand the influence of genetic polymorphisms on cognitive outcome following treatment for childhood leukemia. 

Dr. Lampson seeks to provide the best possible care to childhood cancer survivors by educating patients and families on preventative health strategies, as well as providing the recommended medical screening recommended by the Children’s Oncology Group.

 

Pediatric Radiation Oncology

  • Dedicated staff with years of experience providing pediatric radiation therapy patients with supportive care and advanced treatments including total body irradiation (TBI)
  • The newest technology is available including 3-D fusion and intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT)
  • Pediatric anesthesiologist on-site for patients requiring sedation

John K. O'Connor, MDJohn K. O’Connor, MD

Dr. John O’Connor specializes in radiation oncology and is board certified by the American Board of Radiology. He practices adult and pediatric radiation oncology and sub-specializes in stereotactic radiosurgery and stereotactic body radiation therapy.

He completed his residency in radiation oncology at the University of Utah Huntsman Cancer Institute/LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City. He completed his internship at Oakwood Hospital and Medical Center in Dearborn, Michigan, and he received a medical doctorate from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana.
