WHAT: Childhood obesity has more than tripled within the last 30 years and research suggests that eating fruits and vegetables may help maintain a healthy body weight.
To help combat this problem, Medical City Children’s Hospital and the Greater Dallas Restaurant Association (GRDA) collaborated with Texas ProStart culinary programs in high schools across North Texas to develop healthy children’s menus for local restaurants. All recipes on the Kids Fit Menu’s include two or more servings of fruits and/or vegetables.

On Saturday, October 6 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 3015 Trinity Groves, 3015 Gulden Ln., Dallas, Texas, 75212, students from 14 DFW-area school districts will compete in the second annual live cooking demonstration contest. The winner’s dish will be featured in more than 130 restaurant locations and appear on the children’s menu at one of the following locations: la Madeleine, Fish City Grill, Cotton Patch or Cristina’s Fine Mexican. Each culinary program participating will receive $500, donated by Gordon Food Service. The Kids Fit Menu is now available in 180 restaurant locations nationwide.
